Prairie Song

This is a Dickcissel. They remind of a small Meadowlark.
This picture was captured on the prairie. Wildlife photography on the prairie is different than a lot of wildlife photography because it is difficult to get close to the subject.
Not much cover on the prairie unless you are crawling. Which at times I do. But it is not much fun because of all the little bugs that like to attach themselves and bite you.
So you have to be sneaky and slow.
This bird likes to call. I think it is a warning call. Getting them on a perch is a challenge as well, because they do seem to like being in the grass.
So take your time and plenty of bug spray. You will be rewarded.
