One of the things that Moose Peterson talks a lot about is letting critters come to you. Since I was in the car and the car was shout off - they were comfortable and began to come out into the open.

I shut the car off for 2 reasons. Noise...and vibration.

I am resting my lens on the car window. With the engine off there is no vibration from the engine running. Believe me - it makes a big difference. I learned this from years of shooting Sandhill Cranes from my car blind.

Then I just waited.
